O/S Daily Tuesday 23 June 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Bright sunny warm start to the day here. I have a wash load to peg out shortly when I water the garden and greenhouse.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was braised pork loins, LO veg of new potatoes, carrots, broc, yorkshires, peas, mushrooms and gravy. I remembered to get the liver out to defrost, so tonight we'll be having liver, bacon, sausage, mash, veg and gravy.
Yesterday work was busier - we had several people coming to try the doors to see if we're open.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.It's a sunny start here. hope it stays nice. We are going to the garden centre today, don't need a lot of stuff, just one or two replacement plants. We just go to a small independent one a couple of miles away,I like D*bbies, but it can be a bit expensive.DD and family came yesterday and we sat outside, it was really nice to spend time with them, after the long weeks of having to converse in driveways!Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks12

Morning All
Summer seems to have left us, lots of rain and strong winds here, I can see the grass growing! Lots of washing to do but it can wait as I'm having to dry inside.
I had a lovely weekend with the family, it was so good to see the DS1 and the DGC. They left yesterday after I got home from work, DS1's car went away for a repair so he's happy that's done. DD and family came over on Saturday and we had a great time in the garden with the children in the paddling pool. Little Sophie loved watching them haring around.
Work is incredibly busy as it always is at the end of term, made worse by the new regulations to be put in place for when we return in August so I'm going in early to try to get ahead, seems strange making a packed lunch again after all this time.
Have a happy Tuesday, take care. XX11 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A very warm day in store and to get hotter still tomorrow. Yesterday didn't live up to promise and, after the glorious start, we ended up with a cloudy day!
I am hoping it doesn't get too hot as my bestest friend is coming up again this afternoon to sit out in the back garden. She's a typical English rose, very fair skinned and, even with factor 50 on, she can burn easily! Unlike me with my swarthy complexion! She will get prime position under the umbrella. Her husband is dropping her off and coming back for her so a glass or two of something might be enjoyed whilst we chat!
Some washing to peg out shortly. I did it last night so it's ready and waiting in the basket. Should soon dry.
I took the cowards way out with my request for the meds the consultant had recommended. I left an e-consult form on the surgery website! I can't face an argument with a jobsworth if I ring up and ask for them. Plus you have to hang on forever in a queue waiting to speak to someone in the first place!
GERS who knew finding a white china mug could end up so difficult! The Sainsbury's one in your picture is not like mine. Mine is definitely fine, with a gold rim. Sadly the gold rim on my one remaining mug is now looking worse for wear! (A bit like me!)..Good luck in your search for the perfect one but I do like the V & A one in RR's pic.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. And I hope those waiting for results don't have to wait much longer. Take care all and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Good morning, we are promised a very warm day but it is a bit overcast so far.
I have been up since 4.30 due to nightmares. Each time I woke from one and drifted off again, another started so I threw in the towel in favour of vats and vats of tea. I have favourite mugs too but then, thinking about it, I have favourites of most things of which we have more than one. Favourite spatula, favourite wooden spoon, favourite scissors, favourite gas ring on the hob.
Didn't get the grass cut yesterday because the ground was still a bit spongy but hopefully it will be drier today - right now it is dewy. I did some general garden tidying, a few shrubs have had a haircut. Unlike me, I had my hair cut from waist length to a shortish bob last year and now it is long again, it seems to grow at an alarming rate.
I have no particular plan other than some very minimal tidying and footing about outside but am looking forward to Nelski's spa later.
Millicent what a lovely photo of your robin , our ones have been shy this morning, usually by this time they are either swooping on the bird table or giving me hard stares if I have been slow with the food. I'll probably get hard stares soon as I've just seen that greedy magpie and a pigeon clearing the bird table, like flying dustbins. A small cat has been for a visit too and I could see it pouncing so that may have scared the smaller birds.
Hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here and we are set for a scorcher I think, I have been out and patrolled the garden (as I do every morning) and all is well out there, plants growing well and fountain tinkling away merrily !!
I am off for my results this morning, I must admit I am nervous as I am sure I know the results already I just need them confirmed, oh well we will see !!
Sweet chili chicken for dinner tonight will dome some mushroom and onion rice with it and some peas, or if it gets too hot a nice big salad.
Will empty the dw and tidy the kitchen before I go this morning and put a wash on.
Have good days all xx13 -

Ruby, I'll be keeping everything crossed for good news.
I'm also in the china mug club, the finer the better, tea definitely tastes better in them. I've passed my foible on to Chris as well. I like straight sided mugs of a decent size but like them to have a pattern. I've got some lovely M & S ones with animals on that I got several years ago.
We met Chris and Crystal for a walk on Sunday, it was lovely to see them both but we went further than I have been in lockdown so I was very sore afterwards. It also took longer than anticipated so I had to rush round cooking the roast dinner. Yesterday I went to M & S for some goodies, things are gradually getting busier but I wore my mask and kept too 2m as much as realistically possible. We're still disinfecting groceries as they come in which I find an absolute pain, is anyone else still doing it?10 -
SNOOZER I'm still disinfecting all my grocery deliveries and agree it's such a pain. My friend heard a discussion on tv where they said nothing was achieved by it. Just keep washing hands as you go. But neither of us are risking it yet! It's become force of habit now. REDRUBY I have my fingers crossed that you will get good news xx

Morning folks, even if the weather is rubbish!I had a really bad night, couldn't get comfortable at all, tossed and turned, listened to podcasts, finished off a book, had a cup of tea, took two paracetamol and was still awake at 4.00a.m. Woke again at 6.00a.m. so am showered and ready for a long day.REDRUBY - will be thinking of you today and sending good vibes for a perfect result. Thanks for posting the lovely mug, in my own home I have a number of mugs from W most of which have birds or flowers on, they are nice to drink out of despite being not white or straight sided. The search goes on! It's interesting to read how many have preferences about their mugs. My pet hate in the mug field is those small almost triangular ones from the blue and yellow shed, just a waste of space and resources. Now I'm off, sending Happy Tuesday wishes to all.11

Morning all! Bright and sunny today. I've done my almost favourite pastime today, yep, I've put the dishwasher on. I can't believe how instantly tidy the kitchen becomes when you have one. All the dirty dishes and cutlery goes away into the machine of future delights..Hope the OH doesn't get up for a bit because the water filer jug has been put in it today. I cut the worktop to size yesterday and stuck that on top so it looks neater and we're not putting anything directly on it. Sorry nanny, I went with the old fashioned way of measuring three hundred times and cutting once...I did try the laser level [ surprisingly easy once I got the hang of various buttons ] but it turned out the one baton I was going to use as a starting point had been put on wonky,so I had to replace it.Todays delights are putting a bathroom cabinet up in the bathroom upstairs. OH is going to brush the trough thing again to de-rust the outside, then paint it black. The weather will be good enough to do that outside today. After the cabinet, I'll make a start on the shelf thing. And the grass needs cutting.Going to put another couple of things up for sale, but unfortunately, one of them will require that the garage key be found. Thats mysteriously disappeared last year sometime so we've had to take apart the lock from the inside since. I'm going to have one last thorough search and then give up. Oops, just spent ten minutes googling new locks...Right, better get on and do stuff I suppose...Ruby, hope the news is as good as it can be. TA, enjoy your social day
Scarlet, I have garden center visiting envy! enjoy! AOD, I have a favourite fork..which is weird I suppose...Gers, you've started something now....my favourite mug of the moment is large and bowl shaped but it has glass inserts in a flower pattern that make it look like anything you drink is about to spill out of the holes....It isn't particularly thin in the body [ thin-ish] but the rim is so it doesn't feel like you're drinking tea through a a banana...Right, off I go, have a great day, hey all reading along, that includes you too! Tidy Tuesday!
