A friend of mine, wants the best deal from sky as a new customer. He doesn't have landline and broadband.
Is landline or/and broadband necessary for him too?
Thanks

The only reason I am asking, I have Sky TV. The engineer asked me if I have internet, I do with VM. I know my Sky TV gets updated through my router.Neil_Jones said:

So if my friend gets Sky TV, how would it be updated (if he doesn't need landline and broadband)?

ThanksSky TV does not update through the internet. It never has done. It actually updates through the dish.In a nutshell when updates are pushed they are downloaded to the box from a stream in a way that's very similar to satellite broadband. The Sky TV boxes only need the internet connection for on-demand and pay per view. Everything else is done via your dish, including the so-called Showcase, which is where if you search for something that's relatively new or a highlight or promoted, you sometimes see "downloaded at <some unGodly hour in the morning>". That's come via the dish, not your internet connection.1
