Engine blown after having it 9 months

Awful engine in these unfortunately, and this mode of failure is fairly characteristic of the poor design.
I'd use the link above to have it rebuilt, and it should be good for another 100,000 miles.
Unfortunately you bought an 8 year old car with over 100,000 miles on it - running costs like this are part of the trade-off when a car is £30,000+ new and only a quarter of that second-hand.
I myself run a 2006 530d - however this was from before BMW royally ballsed up the timing chain system and as such it's still on original-everything at 186,000 miles.2 -

I wouldn't bother with any half measures.
You'll always be waiting for it to go again.

cymruchris said:All of your problems listed aside from the oil seal aren't related to a blown engine, but the car is 8 years old, so you would expect a few things to go wrong - even on a BMW. Although it only had 112,000 miles on the clock - you don't know how those miles were clocked up. They might have been lots of cold starts over short distances - maybe a school run - and it never spent time on the motorways - this would increase the engine wear. You don't have to fit a brand new engine into an 8 year old car - you could look at getting a replacement from a salvage dealer - I'm sure there'll be at least one engine in the country that's suitable. I don't think you've got any comeback on the warranty as the time passed has exceeded the expiry date by quite a while. Have you been servicing the car? When was the last oil change? Do you check fluid levels regularly? With just a cursory glance on ebay (and there are better places to look than ebay) I can see someone offering a complete rebuild for your year and engine size for £1295 - so I would start exploring these avenues as a priority:
This is before they come up with 10 reasons why there is a surcharge for his particular case
Fitting is another £1695 + VAT
Oh and they will need a new waterpump belts etc

My partner bought his dream car on the 25th August 2019 a BMW 520D 2012 model albeit there was 112,000 miles on it thought its still low for a diesel vehicle £7500 so he took out finance on it making it £9500. My partner is at his wits end as they told him a new engine fitted will be £7500 he still has to pay the finance for another 4 years no matter what. Help please what can we do??I bought a 2013 Zafira with 95,000 miles on the clock, from ebay for £2,500I would not call it low mileage, I paid to have a timing belt fitted and I am hoping it will last me another 50,000 milesIt's just pot luck whether it last 5,000 or 50,000 miles. If it failed I might think about going back to a £500 car.I don't believe in paying more from a dealer and getting a warranty. I guess your BMW was a private sale, you could have bought major engine failure insurance.
How much would one expect to spend on the 2004 Zafira which belongs to a friend over its whole motable life to pass its MOT
Have a look at the MOT history on this one
There has never been any premot test and no work done to ever get it through any MOT
It is on original exhaust, suspension alternator starter motor and has had the Cam belt /waterpump done for the third time yesterday
Part of this is having it properly serviced and kept in good condition. The MOT could have gone to December but who wants a 16 year old car left for 18 months without being looked at by a professional

I think the last ruined N47 I heard of went to Dal Jones in Kent (trade as Porsche and German Engineers) same as the Ebay link.

Prices are always "from" as it depends on what's needed to bring the engine back up to scratch, not all end up the same state and need the same work but you won't know this until it's stripped and checked.
If the chain has gone and say it's bent a camshaft, you'll often have to pay for a new camshaft on top of the work.
A good engineer will list exactly what they do and what parts they'll use for the price.
They will also have a good idea of the price of any likely excess work/parts, but it's not often these charges are massive as you've paid for the labour to get at them already and a lot of parts can be refurbished at a fraction of the cost of new.0
