How much carpet for a room 3.7m x 4.3m

I have measured the room and added about 100mm to each length, giving a total of 3.70m x 4.30m
I visited a carpet shop and they have quoted £220 based on my measurements, for a carpet priced at £10 / square metre.
They sent out a 'room measurer' who called today and confirmed mu sizes, although he actually measured in feet 'n inches
Now, I realise carpets come in set widths, but I'm not sure if this is based on metric or imperial sizes
What should my carpet be costing ... 3.7 x 4.3 = 15.91 >>> £159-10 in my opinion
thank you

You have to find out the actual width of the carpet that you selected (it's not the same for all carpets). If it's 4m, then you pay for 4*4.3=17.2m2.However, even this doesn't explain their £220 figure.0

I think they'll round up to whole metres: 5m x 4m = 20 m2 , or £200. Is the extra £20 for a door threshold bar? Or delivery?A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

Does their figure include underlay?0

Or fitting?
BTW, just ordered new carpet, the room is just over 3m wide and 6.5m long, so the width was 4m but the length was 6.5m. They cut to the next 100mm (so if your room is 5.3m, they cut and charge you for 5.4m).
The cost of underlay, gripper bar, door threshold bars and fitting was more than the price of our carpet.0 -

The company may advertise free fitting, but they will still charge for grippers etc which could easily account for the additional cost.

Sounds like £172 for carpet plus £50 Fitting0

OP here .. fitting was extra, £3 per square metre ... with the total at £60
So it must be 20 m2 .. so how the h... is 20 x £10 £220 ... I'll hear today0 -
OP again ..
Carpet is priced at £10 per square yard (not square metre as I assumed) and the rolls are 13 feet wide.
Funny, I'm sure I was only learning metric in school, in the 70s0
