Moving a garage that is attached to the neighbouring property

We are viewing a house tomorrow that is ideal in terms of location and price however, we would want to consider an extension if we were to purchase it.
The house is completely detached with a garage that is set back and attached to the neighbouring property. The neighbouring property is also detached.
The garage is not attached to the house we are viewing at all. There is a pathway/gate between the property and the garage.
We would want to detach the garage from the neighbour’s house and attach it to ‘ours’ whilst also bringing the garage forward. We would then have a pathway to the side of the garage, between us and the neighbouring property.
I hope that makes sense?!
Has anybody done or come across anything similar? Would it involve a party wall agreement? I have no idea what a party wall agreement even is! I am totally clueless 🤦🏻♀️

The works would normally be notifiable under the PWA but you may be able to get away with formalising it in a more friendly way in stating the works will be made good where disturbed in terms of weathering, waterproofing, soffits/fascias, etc...
The proposals may also require Planning and Building Regulation approvals.
