I bought two tickets from the WRU prior to lockdown for a six nations game, WRU day tickets valued for Any rearranged Game, but that’s not convenient for us, can I claim a refund of my ticket costs

It depends on where the game was scheduled to be played.

Section 3.2.1 (b) of the Twickenham tickets Terms and Conditions states:
If a Match is abandoned before kick-off, and it is possible to reschedule the Match
or the date of a Match is changed after you have purchased Ticket(s) for it, you
will be entitled to Ticket(s) to attend the rescheduled Match or, if you are unable
to attend the rescheduled Match you will be entitled to a refund of amount you
paid for your Ticket(s) (up to a maximum of the face value of the Ticket(s)). In
the event that an abandoned Match is rescheduled or we change the date of a
Match, we will post a notice on the homepage of the Website notifying you of the
process and deadline for obtaining Ticket(s) for the rescheduled Match or a
    refund.

You can usually find the answer by reading the relevant terms and conditions.

How can the OP know that any rearranged game will not be convenient?
  • I believe you can, everyone should return the money because of this lockdown.
  • I believe you can, everyone should return the money because of this lockdown.
Why should "everyone" do that? What if people want to go to the rearranged game, match or concert?
  • I am hoping you can help guide me with a query about a fee paid to an American Soccer Scholarship Company.

My son had been approached to attend a meeting with a scholarship agent after he had impressed a scout at a local  football tournament.  We attended and signed up to programme on the 14th March and paid a fee of £1995 via debit card.

9 days after signing up, the country went into lockdown. We decided as a family that this was not the best route for my son as circumstances had changed and I contacted the company director on 2nd June to explain we would like to withdraw from the programme. Covid had prevented any service being provided and I requested a refund of the fees.

I also backed this up via an email to the company director to reiterate the conversation.

At present I have written three emails, one of which was acknowledged as being received but no response to my request.

The contract has no terms and conditions written in about a cooling off period or withdrawing from the programme

Am I entitled to a refund as no service had been provided by the 2nd June when the company director was contacted to advise my son was withdrawing from the programme?

     Thank you

It really depends on the contract, cooling off varies depending on the method of sale and the goods or services provided (or entered into an agreement to provide). It may be best you book an appointment with Citizen's Advice and ask them to advise you as they can read the contract and provide you with more accurate information.

Contact your bank and ask to start a chargeback. I'm not 100% sure it will help in the circumstances (it's visa/mastercards own policy rather than a statutory legal right) but it should at least prompt the retailer to respond. A chargeback is basically your bank asking their bank for the money back - so the retailer would have to defend unless they want it to be awarded against them (ie have their bank refund you).

  • Has anyone purchased tickets through GooTickets. I bought tickets for the Spanish Grand Prix which was postponed. They have now offered a credit voucher for 12 months or a refund minus 15%. I paid insurance of 35.20 euros & 6 euros handling fee At the time of booking . So I don’t understand how they can charge me 15%. Is there anything I can do?
