Claim against my car insurance closed. No claims bonus affected?

Options
Hi all,
I have a query and was wondering if anyone has come across the same scenario.
I bumped my car last year into another parked car May 2019, my fault. Only minor damage. The other party claimed against my insurance, I had built up 4 years no claims bonus at this point. This is now at 2 years with morethan, stated on my renawal with them. They half the NCB with 1 claim.

My renewal is due next month, so I emailed morethan to see how much the claim cost was so I could get accurate quotes. I received an email back saying the other drivers insurance never got back to them so my insurance never paid out so Morethan closed the claim.
Now I was wondering where I stand with my no claims bonus, since morethan never actually paid anything out (I repaired my car damage out my own pocket).
If this claim never went through, I would now have 6 years NCB which would save me around 600 pounds instead of the 2 years NCB stated on my renewal. The accident is stated on the renawal.
I've read through morethans policy wording and it says:

Claims for the following will not affect your No Claim Bonus.
8. where we have been able to recover full costs and losses.

Since no money was actually paid out by morethan, would I still have 6 NCB. I am ready to challenge them on this, but would like to know where I stand.

Thanks is advance.

The third party has 6 years from the date of the accident to claim losses and issue proceedings.

Ask more than about your NCB.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

Likely that your insurer will have a sum of money known as a "reserve" posted against the incident in case of a claim from the other party. As long as this is the case (theoretically up to 6yrs but in practice probably 2 or 3 years) you will have your NCD docked.

It is worth calling more than to query this, as like previously mentioned, the third party insurance has 6 years to claim, but a lot of insurance companies will close the claim After 6 months - 1year as information only and your no claims bonus will be unaffected. They just mention that if a claim comes in down the line they will have to re open the claim.
Give them a call and query it. Insurance companies don’t want open claims sat on their books that aren’t actually doing anything, as their ‘reserving’ is then incorrect. It is often better for them to close it after giving 6months or so, as most the time they won’t get a claim in after that
