Bakers Dolphin "postponed" holiday until September - can I get a refund?

My 85 year old father was due to go on a coach holiday with Baker Dolphin in July. He has just received a letter from them saying they've "postponed" his holiday until a date in September. My dad doesn't want to go as he has another commitment and just wants his money back. Baker Dolphin have said in their letter that they are covered by a BCH bond and can offer him a credit note for next year. My father doesn't want to accept this and just wants his money back - is he within his rights to request this?
