BT Sports pass and now in a contract

I bought a BT one month pass for £25.  I wanted to watch on TV and not Ipad.  I phoned up and the girl said she could swap it for me.  She asked me about joining BT sport but I said I am with Sky and just wanted the one month pass.  She said it’s £20 but I would get it refunded.  I now find myself in a BT sports contract at £29.99 per month which I can’t get out of.  I haven’t signed anything.  There is apparently no cooling off period.  Anyone had this experience and managed to cancel.

BT say I am in a contract, there is no way I can change it.  I don’t understand how a simple transaction has gone so wrong.  They are sending me the transcribe of the phone call apparently.  I will have to write to them .
