O/S Daily Monday 22 June 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Bright sunny start to the day, although air is cool, I'm sure it will warm up. I have a wash load to peg out - which I'll do in a bit - I'll water also.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and I'm enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast chicken, roasties, new potatoes, carrots, broc, peas, broad beans, stuffing, yorkshires and gravy. Tonight will be pork steaks, gravy, pots and veg.
Yesterday was a chilled day, just prepped and cooked the lunch, pack ups and then had a day pottering around at home and chilling.
Back to work today - probably be quite busy as things are starting to move.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, after a very wet weekend, the sun is back and the weatherman says it will be a lovely, sunny week. I have not been able to cut the grass, the rain has helped it grow but it hasn't dried enough to be mown so I'm hoping that by this afternoon or tomorrow it will be mowable.
I had to do washing over the weekend, it was building up and had to be dried on racks. This morning I have bedding nearly ready to go out.
Other than boring domestic stuff, not a huge amount happening here a nd I'm even boring myself -and I have a very high boredom threshold. So I'll go back to watching out for the birds. So far just a robin and a magpie, I can hear lots though,.
Hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The sun has his hat on and the day promises to be a pleasant one before the temps start to rise. The rain has moved on for pastures new. We just had one shower yesterday and boy it was a heavy one!
I have a telephone consultation this morning with the vascular surgeon, in lieu of a proper appointment. What this will achieve I have no idea but at least he can tick a box saying I have had a follow up appointment. I would have preferred to wait for a face to face appointment when safe to do so.
Other than that the day is mine so it will be the usual day of pottering, reading and a wander to the Spa if Nels opens it. The front window looks in need of a clean, this early morning sun shows up every mark. So that will be my first job.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care and stay safe xx

Morning all.
Thanks for the start nmlc.
AOD, I don't know what it means to be bored, but with nothing much going on I can bore other people to death. There's a limit to how much you can make of getting up, making meals, doing the smallest bit of housework you can get away with, reading your book, listening to music, yakking to friends on the phone and otherwise passing the time peacefully, but uneventfully.
I am going to Sainsbury's this morning with a neighbour. This is exciting as it involves a car journey to the local metropolis. I don't usually get to shop anywhere but our local Tesco, so can't wait to view the inside of a different SM.
What was that I was saying about being boring?
Until then I must contain my excitement and get some breakfast. If anything newsworthy occurs I'll let you know.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Whatever you must do today, do it with the confidence of a 4 year old in a Batman cape.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning sun seekers
What a gorgeous day for the reopening of the OS daily spa. The washing up bowl pool man is doing a final clean up and the hose pipes fountains are ready to go. The renovations are looking good with a pizza oven a BBQ bar and an ice cream parlour all added for your pleasure. See you later for a taster
Nothing much planned for the day as is the new norm. Could do with clearing out the fridge and using any floppy veg in something creative and of course the usual routine of dishwasher and bins.
Had a reflective day yesterday it being Fathers Day. He and mum would always come round for a meat and beer filled dinner. I miss that so much.
Right best get moving. Have a great day all

Morning all - no sun, no hat, no promise here.My afternoon yesterday was spent washing the new cutlery, washing the old cutlery and then searching for a missing soup spoon though still haven't found it. I can't imagine where it is as those big spoons are hardly used. As I'm giving the set to DM's cleaner I'd like to find it so more searching today.I've found out that I'm a mug snob
as I only want white straight china / porcelain ones. That combination is difficult to find, most mugs are 1) decorated, 2) curved and 3) decorated. I fully respect the taste of others and will, of course, drink from the mugs presented to me when visiting friends however the priority is for a mug to be straight.
Most odd I know!
I've also found out that my arms are lacking strength again. I need to go swimming but can't. Behind a pile of books I found two three kilogram dumbells so started to exercise my arms, what a shock it was when the pain started after five reps. Must do more and more often. My focus has been my lower half since my op, things must change. That's it. I may wander out for a walk to buy a paper. There's more papework to scan and shred and DM's pill box to fill.Hugs to all and I wish you a Happy Monday.13 -
Good morning, was abruptly woken at 5.30 by squawking magpies - what a racket they made! Managed to drift back off thankfully for another couple of hours.
Looking to be a lovely sunny day and the forecast for the rest of the week is going to get really hot, 30 degrees for Wednesday & Thursday. I shall be sitting on the patio in the shade with a book and a cold drink!Just a wash load to sort today and dinner will be BBQ spare ribs and salad, nice and easy.
Will also be on robin feeding duty again as our pair are feeding two babies who are always hungry 😬
Hope it’s okay to post a picture.....46,484 > 0(January)

Morning all
Bright and sunny here and we are set in for a good week, I shall be at Nels new and improved spa later with my brand new flamingo shaped liloI shall be the one in the pool with a large cocktail !!
OH has gone back to work today so I am going to have the day off from cycling and do some needed jobs around the house today will be the under stairs cupboard which has become a massive jumble sale of shoes boots and coats !! It has been annoying me for ages !!
Dinner tonight will be pizza and salad which needs using up and I shall get a bit of beef out for tomorrow night, I need to start a shopping list as well.
Gers I am a mug snob too got to be white, thin china and to hold a good amount !! I found some nice ones in Sainsburys a while ago and years ago I got some in Waitrose which are still going strong.
Have good days all xx13 -
Morning all! Sunny sun sun! Today I have the pleasure of cuting the offcut of worktop into the right size to fit above the dishwasher, and screw a baton in to hold it. Also cut out the back of it to fit round the pipes. This may not sound much to to the trained eye but you might be wondering how am I so confident I'll get both the batons the same height? And the answer is, god knows, I hope that I do! Other than that I have no plans for today, except the usualy desultory picking up an object and putting it somehwere else.A friend dropped off a couple of wasabi plants for me at the weekend so will be looking up care and attention of because I don't want to kill them. I also did the weeding last night, chucked all the horsetail in my weed feed bucket. Which has the tiniest leak so I'll have to fix that too. Oh well, I need some silicone for the worktop so I may send the OH on a mission.More stuff went out at the weekend, and I may have a taker for some of the sand that was riddled, huzzah. I'm liking this recycling lark. Also have plans to build a mini wood store with some of the leftover wood slats from the fencing so another useful object made from junk will be accomplished. And I still love the dishwasher....Gers, you are not alone. I'm very particular about my mugs too. They have to be thin china, but large because everyone needs a half pint of tea minimum
milicent, how cute! Did you see the one on Gardeners world? Came right up to her and took a worm from her riddling sieve. TA, hope your telephone consultation goes better than Nelskis did! Monna, I'll put my cape on ready, hope you have yours on for the shopping...Nels, two days and counting! You're going to need your washing up bowl pool when your terrorist finishes with you on Wednesday
Ruby, have fun indoors...it's no substitute for bike riding though is it...I'm a teensy bit jealous. If I got on a bike it would only be three minutes before I'd be needing to come back...Nanny, good to see you, hope youre imroving...Right, away to more tea, hey all reading laong, hope you're doing nice things for yourselves...A magnificent Monday to you all!

Morning all. The sun is out and there's a fair wind, so the wm is on with a load of clothes.DD and the DGC arrived yesterday bringing Mr Fix It some goodies for Father's Day and I got some old T. shirts ready to make some Barbie clothes. DGD rang me earlier in the week saying that Barbie has run out of clothes and needs me to make her some new ones, in reality Barbie's probably got more clothes than Pri*ark and just needs some new outfits !! There are several different size dolls now, even one in a wheelchair, but an actual doll was forgotten and I need one for the correct measurements. This afternoon I want to fill the green bin with garden waste so that means hunting in the shrubbery for bits of wood. Oh well I can relax at the Spa later......please save me a seat someone. M.E is the tea room open too ?Right wm has finished so I will go and hang it on the whirly.Take care, stay safe and keep well.nan xx
