  • Ive got a 70l cement mixer ive borrowed, was going to use that.  But, Freebear, any idea what a ready mix load would cost to fill 17m2 @ 4" deep?

I'm planning 2 x concrete shed bases in the garden a total area of 17m2.  Was going to lay 10cm type 1, then 10cm concrete on top.  I think i need:
13.4 tonnes of Type 1 MOT
    12 tonnes of ballast
    80 x 25kg bags of cement (ratio of 5:1 ballast:cement)
Does that sound right?  Seems a lot to me??
It is not what you asked but
When I did a block paved drive it was far cheaper to get Hansons to deliver the MOT from a Tipper  than going to the Sheds
( Probably 50% of the price)
I used 14 tons for 4 inches on a space that would pack 4 cars tightly so you are pretty close on your estimate

Nope. But certainly a lot less than putting my back out mixing that lot by hand. Even with a cement mixer, it is going to take all day (maybe more) to do 25-30 loads. By the time you've mixed 10, the first batch will have started to set hard.
Ring a few suppliers of ready-mix, and then put a value on your back & time and compare the quotes.
