Concrete garden challenge - ideas please

I used a ceanothus (£3 from the supermarket) to grow against a panel trimmed back and quietly and subtly block the view of my neighbours shed. It's now over 5ft! A dwarf Dunster Plum tree (plums the first year) to block my view of her conservatory. A rescued rose is making it's way up too.My strawberries survived well in a pot. There were 5 plants and in one year I'm not weeding them out they've flourished. Again, strawberries straight away. Raspberry canes I had to buy again, raspberries first year. I even took a couple of small trees in pots. So don't worry too much. Just buy a lot of chocolate biscuits for the movers. You've got the autumn, winter and spring, ideal for time to plan and plant. During the rest of the summer you can get a bird table and paint it, put up a nesting box, make a little pond in a pot, titivate your garden furniture, potatoes in a bag and veg in pots.If I knew how to load photos onto here you'd be amazed what you can achieve in 12mts. In fact I think I've overdone it a bit
I went from a plot and surrounding gardens empty of all insects and birds. I now watch the birds on the lawn every morning and evening feeding to the sound of lots of buzzing bees.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

You and me both. My garden was a barren apology for a garden when I bought the house - but bit by bit I've put "my" plants in what earth there is (a noticeable amount) and I've got some raised beds and now moving onto pots (not plastic obvs).
You can even put small trees in (really large) pots and I'm steadily adding trees. Still got all the darn concrete and tarmac - as I've not been able to afford to have it all hoicked up and that (substantial proportion) of my garden dealt with - but hopefully at some point that will happen too.
Oh yes to the birds - I wondered if there was any sparrows around nearby when I bought the house and barely spotted any sort of bird (other than the ubiquitous seagulls darn them) - but they come here in great hordes now looking for breakfast and lunch etc and have clearly decided I'm the "provider of good things" for them - with the way they seem to be getting a shorter and shorter distance from me LOL.0
