Car insurance early renewal - please help!

Options
Hello,
i am due a renewal of my car insurance and been checking quotes on a regular basis as my insurance is quite expensive. I’ve found a very cheap quote for my new insurance to start 2 weeks before my old one expires. I am wondering if it’s ok for the new insurance to start earlier. Only thinking about the NCB as in theory I will be claiming x number of years of nbc two weeks early. Any advice will be much appreciated. Tia x

You will have one less year of NCB

Why look for quotes starting on the wrong date? Are you going to cancel your current insurance as ncb can only be used on one policy?
"in theory I will be claiming x number of years of nbc two weeks early" In practice 50 weeks is not a year.

Car insurance tends to go up as the renewal date approaches so the cheap one might be cheaper with 2 weeks longer on it. It also tends to go up as you do more and more quotes inputting varying information. The companies can see the information you're putting in assuming you're not using fake details and get very suspicious about it.

But as others have said, you'd effectively have no NCD as it's in use on your existing policy unless you cancelled that paying all the cancellation fees.

So take the cheapest at the time with the correct details, it's unlikely to go down subsequently.

As Norman_Castle states why are are looking for quotes starting on the wrong date, when getting quotes they ask what date you want the policy to start, you normally give the day/date after your present policy finishes not two weeks before then your full NCD can be transferred.
