My insurance policy doesn't cover me for coronavirus, and it might be too late to start a chargeback as I booked and paid the deposit in December. Could I get round this somehow? Yes, will have to see what happens in the next week or so. Thanks to all for your advice.
A Chargeback start date is either the day of purchase or date of the start of holiday.
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

  • So, the go ahead has been given for holiday cottages to re-open on 3rd July, so as we still can't travel from Wales, I will pursue the owners for a refund of the deposit. However, if they are not forthcoming, I will have to try the chargeback route. Does anyone think success is likely?

So for the OP it is fine, the cottage is not available on the 3rd, as per the booking so it has to be cancelled.

Most likely the provider will now offer you the accommodation starting from the 4th rather than the 3rd, and a pro-rata reduction in the cost, rather than lose the booking. However, you are entitled to a refund if you want one.
