Hairdresser chair rent

I am a hairdresser who rents a chair in a salon , due to Covid 19 we closed on 23 March I was unable to pay my chair rent as had no income . I discussed this with the boss and he understood . Now he wants 4 months back pay of rent before I can go back to work , which I don’t have . Is this right considering I haven’t been able to work and not using any of the facility’s or things included in my rent ? Really worried .

If you pay rent for a serviced space, and those services were not available, or access to the premises was denied, you may have an argument, but start by looking at what your chair rental agreement says under the landlord's obligations.0

A force majeure clause frees both parties from obligations under the contract. It depends whether enforced shutting of the shop comes within it. See for example:

The owner of the saloon may also have received grants to cover their costs and off-set the impact, so it is not unreasonable they pass this down to you in part.
As Jeremy said, were you denied access to serviced facility?
