I have noticed recently that I have been charged interest on my overdraft each month even though I haven’t used it. Why

This is almost certainly due to interest/charges that became due on previous use of your overdraft. You should be able to trace the charges back through your various monthly statements. You should also be able to settle it by leaving a balance of slightly more than your last overdraft charge in your account, for at least two months. Monitor your statements as they will tell you exactly how much will be due in the following month.
