Glow plugs are pretty much a service/wear & tear item in that they don't last forever and I wouldn't expect warranty to cover them, unless its a controller or relay that's failed rather than the glow plugs themselves. Its unlikely that work they've done has caused this and is probably just sod's law.
With the caveat that you're using Evans Halshaw so anything could happen (not my favourite dealers as you may guess!)

    How old is the car?

Just because someone has managed to plug in a computer and it has said 'glow plugs' doesn't mean it needs new ones.  Bits have been taken off and removed, all that needs checking first, it only needs part of a wiring loom to be making a bad connection for faults to register.

If this isn't a Merc dealer ask them to send it to one,  EH are part of Pendragon so no excuse not to.

Clearly at least 3yo, by the fact it's no longer under the manufacturer warranty and needs MOTing... Probably at least 3yo at the time of purchase, so 4yo now, given an aftermarket 2yr warranty on it.
