Two years isn't very long for a personal injury claim to drag on. Your condition may have been clarified in the sense that you have some sort of diagnosis, but if you may need surgery in the future then it would seem that the full extent and impact of your injuries has not yet been determined. As long as your claim has started within the three year time limit it might make sense to delay any settlement as long as you can so you don't end up settling for an amount that doesn't reflect the full extent of your injuries - which only become apparent later (particularly if you might end up having to have a really risky "last resort" operation).
If your solicitors haven't explained all this to you (have you asked them?) you might want to keep them on a tight rein as they don't sound up to much.
