A neighbour received a scam phone call - she quickly hung up but the number that, appears to have called was their own banks "reporting fraud" number !!
How did that happen ?
ie) How did the scammer know what bank, our neighbour banks with ?
Something stinks ...

Or ... it could just have been a lucky hit. How many such phone calls do you think they make? If 1 in 1000 generates a positive result then they're quids in.1

DoaM has it spot on.
Faking the number isn't that hard to do, and there are only so many big name banks to choose from...
It would be worth your neighbour reporting it to their bank though, just so they're aware.1 -
It might have been their bank 😂0

Check with the bank to see if it actually was them. If it wasnt I would move on as if i phoned up enough people and said 'I am from your 'large bank company'', i would be right more often than I need to to get one sucker on the line.

I got regular emails advising me of fraud on bank accounts which I have never had.0
