    Great news, that's a really positive step - a figurative giant deposit in your children's futures. 
    I don't have experience of HP (second hand and kept until scrapped rather than rolling in it), but there's a good explanation of how it works on this website somewhere, I'll try to find it.

    It looks like if you have paid half the amount and the car is in good condition (or you pay for it to be put back in a good condition), you can hand the car back and not pay any more. Unless you have already paid off half I'd personally not worry about it as it would presumably just be counted as one of your debts and be dealt with along with everything else.

  • You've been given some good advice and support here. I don't have anything practical to add but I didn't want to "read and run." Most of us on this forum understand how scared you must feel - we've been there - but we've more than survived and can tell you that it will get better. Please take the first step and contact a free debt support agency (such as CAP), for advice.

    Staying on token payments is only a temporary fix, it does not get rid of the problem. So don't see it as a long term solution, just a way to give you some breathing space.
