After burying my head in the sand for far too long now, I finally did the right thing and faced my debts that I've stupidly let spiral out of control 😔

I finally plucked up the courage to  total them up on Tuesday and worked out I was £22,898.20 in debt 😩

I'm annoyed at myself for letting things get this bad and a tad ashamed but mainly determined to get rid of it all once and for all 💪I'm hoping this diary will keep me motivated whilst I slowly plod along....

So a little about myself, I'm 28 and a newly single parent to my beautiful 4 year old (well I say new but it's actually been 8 months, the whole global pandemic thingy has just made the last 3 months fly by 😂) and finally feel like I'm getting my life on track!

I used to always be so good with money, I had big dreams to save and yet somehow I've found myself in mountains of debt instead! 🙈 My Ex partner was extremely bad with money and I found I bailed him out so often in the early days of our relationship it was taken for granted! They do say love is blind right?

But now I'm single and happier, I'm ready to tackle the only stressful thing left in my lift: Debts.

If I can work my hardest and be super strict I'm hoping I can be debt free by August 2023....  Not sure if I can make it by then but I refuse to go into 2024 with any debt 😁

Thankyou! Good luck with your journey, do you have a diary I can follow? I think I'll be close to 32 by the time I'm debt free!

Good luck getting started! These forums have really helped me get onto a good track and the debt is coming down. I know it's hard but try not to get stuck in a cycle of shaming yourself ( I am the worst for doing this to myself!). You are taking positive steps now. I look forward to seeing your debt creep down!

Just wanted to wish you luck. I have found the only way to success (after several attempts) is to be in it for the long haul & proper budgeting. Extra income such as surveys etc helped me pay mine off quicker .

Thankyou, I used to always be on these forums, and the last few days I've been lurking, so though a diary would help keep me motivated!

It's so easy to do, but you're right least I'm doing something about it now so I shouldn't dwell on the past too much! Good luck in your journey!
