Hi,
I recently took advantage of the Cap One 18months 0% offer on BT's. My first payment due date is 13th June, with the advisory letter telling me to pay "5 working days beforehand". I only came back from holiday yesterday, so paid today. Unfortunately, the 5 working days notice was yesterday (6th June)
Will I be ok? What are Cap One like for taking payments?
If I lose the 18months 0% offer from the first payment, I'll be gutted. It'll be the first payment I have "ever" failed to make on time.
kind regards
Pete

Phone them up! I just had to do similar as I realised no payment had been made. I asked to make payment by switch over the phone and as it was behind she took two months and asked if I would like to pay by direct debit.
I agreed to this and then said as the payment was late would this mean a late payment charge to which she said yes but as I had arranged to make the minimum payment by direct debit she would take the charge off my account.
She is sending out confirmation of all of this by letter today.

Well I don't have a DD set up, I only missed the date as I was returning from holiday. As long as they take the payment before next Monday, I'll be ok. I was just wondering if they "always" take 5 days, or sooner. I know a lot of banks cite a certain amount of days but are generally quicker.
thanks

This seems to be common with Capital One. Just a warning - anyone who recently took out a 18 month or 15 month offer with them and set up a DD, phone them up to find out the date of the DD and please make sure it comes out on the exact date it is supposed to. Check with your bank that morning and if it has not come out, make a manual bank payment on that day instead or you could lose your deal.0

Surely once a DD is set up it`s down to Cap 1 to make sure they take it on the correct day?
Afterall in their own "bumf" they encourage you to set up a DD "so your payment always arrives on time"
From their website
"We will take this automatically and your payment will reach us in time.
Please allow 4 working days for the payments to credit your Capital One account after it has left your Bank or Building Society. It takes an additional working day to update your Internet account with your payment."
Does this mean you have to set a date 5 days prior to when your payment is due and how do non working days affect it?0 -

Hi Pete,
You will be fine with Capital One providing you made the payment by BACS and it left your account today. It will reach Capital One by Monday at the latest. They state 5 Working days on statements just to be safe I guess. Be warned though they sometimes take a while to update the online statements so your payment may not be reflected online for a few days but when it does appear it will be showing on the day they got it. Hope this helps.0 -

Thanks M, I actually went into the bank to pay it. I checked my account online this morning, and the payment left my account yesterday (7th), so hopefully it will be fine.

I paid my Cap1 card by online transfer from my current account and it only took 2 working days to process. I was worried it hadn't gone through at first, as it didn't show on my cc statement for over a week, so I called them and got the automated voice which told me the date they received payment and what my new balance was etc etc.
