It depends if the dealer accepts credit cards.

    Most don’t.
They absolutely do if they can take any form of card payment, they just choose not to. They most certainly can if they've got a service department. I would imagine though if you said you were willing to pay the credit card commission, typically around 1-2% of the transaction, they may be willing to entertain it.
They most definitely will accept you putting a deposit on by credit card so you can get your Section 75, especially when faced with losing a sale if they won't allow that.
Remember that ultimately at the moment there's a glut of used cars being sold by businesses which had almost 3 months being unable to trade at a time where buyers are reluctant to spend their money just in case there's a second wave or they lose their jobs which puts you in a much stronger position.

My dad paid £9000 on a credit card when he bought his last car out of a total of £16000 so it's definitely possible - but as others have said - will depend on the dealer, as the fees involved eat into their margins to start with, and consumers have various rights when they've bought using a credit card that they don't get if they pay by other methods such as bank transfer. Find the car you want at a dealer and give them a ring.

We bought a car from Arnold Clark with a 0% credit card in December last year. £7000 + trade in. No problem at all.
