How To Speak To Someone At Vanquis

Hi All, I have just received my latest statement and I have paid my credit card debt in full. My balance is now zero. So, I would like to close my account. On the vanquis website there is a number I called them however its all automated. They give you options like press one for lost or stolen, or two for credit increase etc etc. But there is no options to close your account. They have an SMS service I have used that but I have heard nothing back from them and that was about 48 hours ago. I was thinking of writing a letter to them however, if there is an easier option ill do that. Has anyone else had this issue with them? If yes, how did you go about it? I am thinking they are deliberately making has hard possible to close your account. Thank You

Write to them or send them a secure message via their online portal, advising them that you want to close your account with immediate effect.  Don't cancel your Direct Debit though, as you may have 'trailing' or 'residual' interest due the following month.

If you call (0330 099 3000) from your mobile, it should ask you for your DOB to confirm it's you and then it will give you options (0 - is transfer to a represative.) Once you get through they will be able to help you out.
I called them last week and got througt almost instantly.

Hi Jay, I typed in my DOB from my mobile however, there was no option that take you to a representative. Only options were account balance, recent transactions, pin number help, credit limit querys or going on holiday. Even if tryed one of these options its still automated you are not able to speak to a Vanquis representative Its very frustrating.

That's very strange, when I call the first set of instructions is:
1 - Report card lost or stolen
    2 - Manage your account

Then after a load information it says to enter you DOB, once you do that you should the following options:
    1- Hear your account balance
2 - Hear recent transtion or details of lastes statment
    3 - Make a payment
    4 - Help with pin
    5 - Credit limit queries
6 - If you are going on holiday or plan to use your card aboard
    0 - To transfer to a represative
    9 - End your call
    * - Hear options again

If the option doesn't come up then you could try the lost and stolen option and get them to transfer you through to the relevant department, if they can't help.

Maybe you can't manage the account because they have closed it and have sent a confirmation in writing?
It's better for your credit report if you just keep the card open but just cut up / don't use the card though (or does that not apply because it's a sub-prime card?)
