Repeated issue of report stating I'm not on the electoral register, when I always have been

Hello all!

This is my first post on the forum.
I have been having difficulties with my credit reports over the last 2 years. Today, for the third time, I have noticed that both CreditKarma (Transunion) and Creditwise (Equifax), state that I am not on the electoral register. This is incorrect and I have previously proven to Equifax that I am registered manually.

Why does this keep happening and what can I do to prevent this happening? It has impacted me by lowering my credit score and stopping me taking out an interest free instalment payment on a product.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Kind regards,
Bill

You need to raise a formal dispute with Transunion and Equifax.

Have you checked your Experian report to confirm you show as being on the electoral roll there?

    It sounds like either:

    1) your local authority aren't uploading your ER data to the database which credit reference agencies search - check this with your local authority

    2) there's a mismatch in the address formatting the local authority have for you, and the credit reference agencies have for you. Asking your local authority to send you a letter confirming that you're registered to vote at your current address as of X date and forwarding a copy to each CRA will enable them to marry up the address formatting.

... Did the lender you applied to confirm that they were unable to find a trace of you on the ER and this is the reason for declining your application? Usually being missing from the ER prevents a lender from being able to verify your identity and therefore asks for ID; however it wouldn't often be the sole reason for declining your application.

Contact your local authorities and ask them
why they’re not reporting it correctly first.

And pay not attention to your “score”.
