Installing Extractor fan with timer in place of old extractor without timer

Hi

I am planning to replace my old noisy extractor fan(without timer) to a new one with timer.Both are in-line models.

There is no isolator switch.

On off by pull string which also brings on the bathroom lights.

How do I make the connection to permanent live and from where? I would like to avoid bringing in a sparky if possible.

I'm sorry to say that if you need to ask the question then as the law stands you are not a "competent person" (no disrespect to all your other skills) and that you shouldn't be carrying out this work. If you bring a permanent live to the fan, then you should protect persons who may work on that fan later by installing an isolating switch. The job is now more complex than just running a live feed to the fan.
