Good morning all, was just after some advice from the insurance group's amongst you!
Last week I damaged my laminate flooring moving a sofa, luckily I had some spare materials and managed to repair it myself for free although it took the best part of a day to complete. My friend asked why I didn't just claim on my contents insurance, reason was that I've never had it - I had a think and decided to purchase a policy with accidental damage cover to cover me for any more woopsies.
Less than 24 hours after taking out my cover I have managed to smash my TV, I led it face down to remove the stand so I could mount a wall bracket. I didn't see there was a tiny screw on the surface of the table, heard a crack and the rest is history.
I am confident that I am covered, I am just not sure the implications of making a claim so soon after taking out a policy. I have had a look through the policy wording and can't see anything regarding not being able to claim within a cooling off period but wondered if anyone else had any experience making a claim so soon?
My reason for claiming is completely legitimate but I am aware it doesn't look good so contemplating leaving it a few days before I speak to them.
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks in advance

Claim and see what happens0

inevitably it will raise your premiums for the next years, even if you don't claim any money from them and only notify them"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Check to see if there is a qualifying period before you can claim, and your policy excess. At best they will be extremely suspicious and there will be a note on your history to show that you claimed so quickly. It could make it more expensive / more difficult to get cover in the future.
