Does anyone else use Nationwide? I've been thinking about it over the months and it's come to ahead now. I have one of their credit cards and I pay it off in full each month.
What I've always hated about it is there is no real time update or daily update on how much you've paid off that month.
So lets say I own £200 on the 20th of the month. You pay £100 on the 10th of the month, annoyingly, Nationwide doesn't update the account, so it still shows you owe £200 for the end of the month.
Maybe if I use the phone app I thought, maybe that will have real time updates. I see Payments & Credits to your account. I pay the £100. I check, Payments & credits hasn't updated. OK, so it's not real time, maybe nightly. Nope, still not updated. I give the app a review, the tech says it should update daily, if not call the company.
I call Nationwide credit card as oddly, the local store tells me they can't help as despite the card being in their name, you have to call the credit card deparment. That's the first fail.
I call, the guy says he can see I owe £200. Can see I've paid money in recently but states this won't show until your next statement. I say that's odd, no real time update then? He said it can be slow to update. I said but I've waited over a week and still the Payments & Credits number hasn't gone up. "Yeah, it won't update until next statement". OK. "And you need to register your credit card for Internet banking". Erm, what? But I can already see it online and move money to it, so surely it's already Internet banking enabled. I can see it on the app also. "Well its showing it's not registered for Internet banking". Can you tell me where that is? "No as of course, we can't see the online accounts". Well, no but you surely should be told the layout of every nationwide account and where the register credit card for Internet banking is. I didn't say that, just thought it. Said I'd take a look. He said "You'll get what you need once it's registered and the app will show you what you need".
So before I go can you tell me how much I currently owe, considering I've already paid £100 of the £200 (obviously these numbers are made up), "No, sorry, I can only see you owe £200 despite already having paid money in." So not even they can see at their end! So as to not risk the fact I might not have paid it all off, I have to pay the full £200 just in case. But then I'll be £100 in credit.
Got off the phone. There is no option to register the card for Internet banking. There is nothing on the app either. But online and via the app I can interact with the credit card, so surely it IS enabled/registered for Internet banking.
I then start to write a "secure message" online via my signed in account, so ask the question there. Finish typing, press send "Failed due to a technical error". What was that error? Their stupid site had ignored I was STILL ACTIVE typing a message on their page and had signed me out for "security reasons".
I'm now looking to move to a bank that actual has real time updates for their credit card. So if I owe £200 that month, pay £100, the app will say "Payment is £200. We can see you've paid £100, you now owe £100". As it appears pretty clear Nationwide can't do this.

When I pay something to Nationwide card, it's updated overnight. I have the account too and never had any described issue.

whenever I have made a payment to my Nationwide CC account it shows up usually within 24hrs and at most within 48hrs. I think the accounts get updated at midnight.0

What they don't do if you make a payment before the payment due date is re-issue your statement. I don't think any other credit card provider would issue a new statement, either, if a payment is made before the due date.
If, for any reason, you are paying some or all of your credit card ahead of the payment due date, you have to keep your own records.1 -
I don't have a Nationwide credit card but it seems that other users' accounts are updated fairly quickly, so this looks like a glitch with OP's account.
I do though have a Barclaycard cashback credit card. DD set up to clear full balance every month, but if I make additional payments through the app, the overall balance is updated within a couple of hours, as is the revised DD amount. It even tells me when the DD will no longer be revised, presumably as its already been initiated.0 -

Anyone else had these issues? It's not instantaneous ..... it seems to take 2/3 days even when I do a transfer from Flex account.I have an automatic transfer that pays in full on the due date but I don't keep much in the Flex account so I have to monitor it closely.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

I have £1 sat in my Flex Direct account and its been that way since ... the 5% bonus rate ended ... then the regular saver ended ... then the flexclusive ISA ended ... I think all three within a short period for me. Didn't have a reason to bother with the account anymore, but keeping it open in case Nationwide decides to offer any useful products in the future. They'll no doubt be pleased to be taking mortgage payments off me soon though.1 -
Does any UK bank service their credit cards in branch?
Transferred funds from Flex to credit card and the available balance was updated almost instantly.
