Mbna cant find my account to see if i had PPI

I received a letter last year from MBNA to say that they where looking into a PPI claim that they had received from Santander. 3 more letters arrived saying that they are still looking into the case and blamed the vast amounts of claims they received before the August 31st deadline.
I have now received a letter today, saying they cant find an account in my name, and to send them statements to prove that I was paying PPI, which unfortunately I do not have, and to be fair, I am not sure if I did or not. Santander has sent them a complaint on my behalf which leads me to think maybe I did have PPI without me knowing.
I have replied back today with email, with an old address and the 16 long digit number from 2 expired credit cards, one from Abbey before Santander took over, and a Santander credit card.
Would this information be enough to find my account? The cards dates back from 2007 till around 2011.
Thanks.

That is not a logical conclusion.   Santander wouldnt know if you had PPI or not.    It looks more like you sent a complaint about a card to Santander but Santander did not have the liability but believe that MBNA did.  So, they forwarded it to MBNA.

Would this information be enough to find my account?

Unlikely.   Most card providers keep data of existing customers for longer periods but for closed accounts, you will see destruction of data around 6 years on a phased basis.  Often just a rolling  6 years worth of statements are retained for non-customers.

Send a SAR to MBNA with all the info you quoted above.  It might help them locate some details of this closed account.
