Cheap rate disappeared
Options
EDIT: I forgot I initiated this switch via Uswitch, seems most likely that's the reason for the single rate.
I only just got around to looking properly at my last three monthly bills from Scottish Power.
I'd already noticed I'd been switched to a different tariff, but I assumed that was a good thing, my previous one was due to end but due to CV-19 restrictions I wasn't easily able to speak to them. So seeing I had a new fix lasting a year or so I thought they must have done it automatically for everyone on fixes ending during this time. But today I looked again and found that my cheap rate had gone! I mean, control and standard rates are now the same.
Without actually doing the calculations, it seems my costs might not be very different (new rate is between the two old rates), but I'm a bit miffed anyway, not having told about this, as it will affect my usage during the winter months. I might well stop using the storage heaters.
Have others seen this, with SP or other suppliers? Is there some regulatory or other reason for it? Basically, what gives?
(BTW, because of my metering arrangement, Comfort Plus Control, I'm stuck with SP.)

If the tariff you were on expired and you had not previously contacted them to pick a different tariff then they should have moved you to the cheapest, nearest tariff they had to your previous tariff that did not have an exit fee.It will not necessarily be the cheapest one for your needs as that might have an exit fee and they are not allowed to just commit you to another fixed period with an exit fee...0

Well there's an exit fee on the new one, which I don't think there was on the old one. But I'm more concerned about the change to a single rate, TBH. I guess I should contact them about it.
EDIT: Forgot I set this up via Uswitch -- getting old! Still seems strange they put me on a single rate with no discussion though. It clearly says on Uswitch email there's no need to discuss metering as not switching suppliers.0 -
I've now chatted with SP agent who confirmed the change to single tariff was probably triggered by using Uswitch. They offered to switch me back to dual rate -- or try to! -- but I said I'd need to think about it. Surprisingly, it's looking like the single rate will not be significantly more expensive.0

You can switch to some suppliers if you have Comfort Plus. SSE and Bulb are two you can switch to. I am in the middle of doing it right now0
