Ryanair Refund request in email denied

FYI I received this email response to my email to Ryanair this morning, which I believe to be unlawful on the grounds that it cites "interpretive guidance" in EU 261/2004 - clearly the company has interpreted the phrase about extraordinary circumstance to their own benefit, where any reasonable third party, such as the CAA, CMA, MSE, Aviation Ombudsman would likely judge that since a service has not been provided and has been cancelled by Ryanair, they are liable and not the customer. I am considering my next steps to be writing to Ryanair threatening legal action for the cost of the flights plus legal expenses and reasonable compensation for inconvenience and time.

There’s a difference between “refund” and “compensation.”0

Yes , you won't get compensation but if they cancelled the flight you are entitled to a refund.
I suspect that your email was poorly worded

Thanks Browntoa,
I could paste my original email here if that would help, but could you suggest how I should approach asking for a refund?
