Yeah well its floor boards so there wouldn't be self levelling compound. But yes I do believe any flooring person should get the floor flat before laying the floor. But he's acting like its normal, it certainly doesnt look normal, and isn't even close to Karndeans recommendations. Hopefully something gets worked outsol2017 said:I'm far from an expert but I would have thought that in this case flooring installation should have included 1) planing down floorboards if possible 2) using plywood or insulation boards, 3) self leveling compound and only then vinyl.
I might be talking rubbish but to me that bump in the floor looks a bit unusual for floorboards and that it's worth checking underneath the floorboards for rotten joists or something else that may be causing it.
As I say, I'm no expert, just reading stuff online.0 -
Do bear in mind that the OP has said they had the job done 'really cheap'. Maybe needs to be put down to 'You get what you pay for'?sol2017 said:I'm far from an expert but I would have thought that in this case flooring installation should have included 1) planing down floorboards if possible 2) using plywood or insulation boards, 3) self leveling compound and only then vinyl.

Yeah it was at the last minute, but before that and all the prep was done with the idea of using Karndean, and he deals almost exclusively in Karndean. Either way I imagine Polyflor recommend similar, why wouldn't theyrach_k said:

But I wasn't looking for a super cheap quote, he was just doing what people often do and saying I'll do it as cheap as I can. He's the main guy in Bristol who does Karndean and has only good reviews everywhere I looked.TELLIT01 said:
