Hi I would be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction to contact the company now responsible for a life insurance policy issued by the British Workmen's Friendly Society, 122 Colmore Row, Birmingham - the policy was taken out in my late mother's name in 1959 and I have so far been unable to find out who to contact to make a claim on this policy.
Many thanks for any help

I expect someone will come along shortly with current contact details. There are some Forum members who are very good at tracing old companies.

When is your policy from @Dan1944? The problem is that friendly societies didnt have to be registered until the 1960s so if it folded before registration was compulsory there may be very little records left, indeed a google only shows this thread and an interview with a chap that worked for them in the 50s. If you look for the British Workman's Friendly Society a little more comes up but would need confirmation of the correct name
Follow the advices on https://financialmutuals.org/our-members/tracing-a-society/
Does it state their registration number?0 -
Try the Scottish Friendly here https://www.scottishfriendly.co.uk/
I think the history is something like:
1969: Renamed to Colmore Friendly Society
1992: Transferred to Rational Shelley Friendly Society
2006: Transferred to Scottish Friendly Assurance Society
