The point I was making for @funnymonkey was that it is important to understand what you have got, and set it up to the most optimal operation. Another of my daughters rented a cottage once which was heated by an electric powered storage device to a wet radiator system on an Economy 10 tariff. No possibility of changing the arrangements as it was an annex on the landlord's house. This type of heating system is widely considered one of the most expensive to run. Nevertheless, by judicious use of the controls she was able to keep the bills at about half the levels which the previous tenant had experienced. The landlord was very co-operative and explained the meters and the tariff, and showed us the previous tenants bills. Even he was surprised after a year or so to see the way the bills were lower.
