Maternity Allowance & SEISS

Hello, I wondered anyone had insight into my upcoming problem? I am due a baby in August. I would obviously love to claim the next SEISS but as my maternity allowance will start during the 3 months June-August does that mean I am not eligible to claim anything? There doesn't seem to be a way of claiming a month or 2 paid rather than the full 3 which seems silly? I had pushed the date earlier for my maternity allowance as I worried I would have no money (before SEISS plans were revealed). If I did claim and also receive maternity allowance will this get me into trouble and my maternity allowance cut? Any advice or pointers where to ask would be greatly received.
Thanks, Fiona

You claim the whole amount if affected on, I believe the date is 14th July. As you are due in August then I would not claim Maternity Allowance until you give birth, or August, as long as you get past the date in the legislation/guidance.0

I guess it depends on what your business is. I think the maternity allowance is a bit of a red herring. You don't have to stop all work to claim it. Matt's concern is that if you are receiving maternity allowance, and you stop working, the reason your business is adversely affected after 13 July is that you are on maternity "leave", not coronavirus. If your business involves heavy lifting, for example, I think it would be a problem, but if you could work in your self employed business perfectly normally, but coronavirus adversely affects it after 13 July as well as earlier, I don't think there should be a problem, but I'd be interested in other views.
