St. Giles London refund

St.Giles Hotel in London cancelled my booking in April offering a full refund free of charge.  They stated that they would be unable to process refunds at that time due to circumstances but once all was back on track the refund would be processed.
That was almost two months ago.  How long should I wait?
Should I wait until the hotel has opened again?  I realise businesses are struggling at the moment but I could really use that money at this time.
Many thanks.

Have you any contact with them in the last two months?

You can either continue waiting  or issue a Chargeback if you paid via a card.
How quick  Chargeback will be will depend on your bank.

At last I have received a reply from St. Giles Hotel London.  They say they are working on the refund but because they have moved to a new portal I need to email my phone number, card type and it's expiry date and a screen print of the original payment from my bank statement, then they will phone for the card number.  It all seems a bit odd and I don't feel comfortable sending so much information.  Am I right to be concerned?

Update. St. Giles London had everything thing to avoid paying refund. For example, only phoning me when they knew I would no be able to answer.  So thought I would claim back on credit card (Sainsbury's) as recommended in earlier reply to this thread. They took so long they are now claiming it is passed the date for claiming.
Add that with easyJet fiasco I am out slot of money.
But have learned a good lesson. Only book hotels through booking.com, don't book flights until last minute (and avoid easyJet) and close Sainsbury's account asap .

You're out of time for a chargeback claim but should be able to claim under section 75, assuming you booked directly with the hotel and can demonstrate a breach of contract.
