I wish flight prices had increased comparatively little next year .....my July flights have increased by 58%, yes thats 58%!!!
I would suggest that is quite a substantial increase by Jet2. Ryan Air on the other hand appear to be providing reasonable prices at present, but this is no good for people who have paid this year and have to rearrange.

My flights for next year are about £120 dearer than this year.  This year they were roughly £900.  I accept that you have a very different experience but that just proves that the costs vary greatly.

Yes I costs must vary greatly if your Jet2 flights are only £120 more expensive.
When I enquired with Jet2, why the 58% increase they stated it was due to "demand" and their "live pricing system".
I am intrigued then how their live pricing system actually works - is it based on actual bookings or interest in flights. If their live pricing system is based on the number of "hits" (interest) per flight then you can guarantee prices will be sky high (as everyone is behaving differently due to Covid19 - checking and re-checking again flight details), but if their live pricing system is based on bookings then this cannot possibly explain the 58% increase in those flights. As I have checked and the have only sold circa 14 seats on next years flight??. And a quick check shows that Ryan Air are circa £1000 cheaper for the same flights, so i would question if it really is demand and suggest it is either profiteering or a faulty pricing system.......

Can you not cancel your Jet2 flights, lose the deposit and re-book with Ryannair if you are going to be saving over £1000.

Jet2 prices have always been around 3 times what Ryanair charge on the route I fly to Spain.

I certainly feel like doing that but would still lose out as the original flight prices were £1246
Hence Jet2 know they have you in a no win situation!

But did Jet2 not give you the option of a full refund of this years flights as well as the option to re-schedule to next year? if you took the refund and booked with Ryannair you will be quids in.

Our flight is just after 15th July and Jet2 have a no refund policy.
You can pay £35 to change the dates to another flight, which is not the problem. The problem is the 58% increase for the same flights next year

I suspect that many companies are only surviving this year's situation through huge bank loans, which will have to be repaid.  If they can't stay in business by borrowing their way out of collapse then they probably won't be around next year.
