Long stay / "backpacker" travel insurance is considered health insurance for tourist visa purposes. So if it comes to the point where a visa is required, Long Stay travel insurance will normally be sufficient. Of course the Spanish authorities could play silly-wotsits and insist on x y or z but as no-one knows what they might demand, no insurer or broker has tailored a product to deal with it. In the event, I'm sure suitable products will become available very quickly.1 -
