"New" Customer Again

Some months ago on the main site, I read a section on when each card provider treats you as a "new" customer again after you've closed an account with them.
I'm looking for this information again now but, after searching for it both there and on these boards, I can't find it.
Could you please provide this info or else a link to the page I can't seem to find?
Thanks in advance

If you can’t find it, why not call the card company you are interested in getting a card from? Info straight from the horses mouth is generally going to be more reliable as sometimes things can change over time.

What lender is it and what benefit are you gaining as a “new” customer as opposed to an “existing or returning” customer?

    Thanks for your replies.

When trying to contact lenders I get messages telling me that if my call is not important at this time, then I should search for answers on their websites if possible, so that's the reason for my question.

They don't provide the answer to this particular question themselves on their sites, but I know I'd seen it somewhere on the MSE site, but now can't find it.

I closed a credit card account with one lender about 6 months ago and was thinking of applying to them again for a 0%, no fee balance transfer card, but was wondering if I had to wait longer than this, maybe 12 months, or is it less time, perhaps as little as 3 months.

No you don’t have to be a new customer for it.

    You can apply at anytime

Well if you can’t find the answer on their website, then surely if you want to know the answer then calling them will be the best bet in terms of getting an answer.

We understand what you are asking, but you aren’t really helping yourself by not specifying the card provider you’re looking at. For some providers, their terms might say 12 months, others it might be less.  Without specifying who you are looking at the answer is essentially ‘how long is a piece of string?’

The article you were looking for was last updated a year ago and they've stopped publishing that info, which was only ever a rough guide and unlikely to be reliable, but the last version is at https://web.archive.org/web/20190616162341/https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/cancel-unused-cards/#when

    Thank you, eskbanker.

That explains why I couldn’t find the info!

I appreciate your reply. Very helpful. Cheers!

If it's Santander (and the only other possibility I know of for 0% no fee is NatWest group) then the next day is fine.
