Forced to take holiday while on furlough & while in redundancy consultation phase

Hi, I have been on furlough from my full time accounts job since 22nd March and continue to be until end of July. Today I have been told that I am being made redundant (in consultation phase). I have 10 days holiday left and assumed this would be paid as part of my redundancy.  Over a month ago a letter went out asking if staff could take a week's holiday w/c 22nd June, to lessen the amount of staff all wanting to take holiday when they all returned to work. As I am now not going to be back at work, can the company make me take a week's holiday. Clearly it is so they don't have to pay me as much holiday pay in the redundancy package?
Thanks

  • Yes they can, they are only required to give you two days notice for every days holiday they are making you take, so on top of the weeks holiday they have already confirmed they have time to require you to take any extra holiday before the end of your notice period.
  • Ah, ok, thanks for reply. I was just slightly unsure whether, as well as a company being able to make you take holiday in furlough, whether that still applied, having moved on a stage to basically being in the throes of redundancy (consultancy period). Thanks for your reply. Am I correct in thinking the enforced 5 days holiday should be paid at pre furlough rate of pay do you know?
  • Any holiday should be paid at 100%, not 80%. They still have to pay you any redundancy payments (which are tax free) at the full rate, but they can pay you your notice at furlough rates.
