Seems more hassle than it's worth without it.1

I looked on this link but I could not find this statement anywhere, I am not sure what in trade" means?
We are going to ask for our deposit back.
DVLA make a note that they're no longer responsible for it, but do not assign a new keeper until the car is actually sold. In effect, the car is in limbo, and doesn't need to be taxed or SORNed, but can't be used without trade plates.1 -

Check the reg here https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ and if there is this statement "You may be able to tax this vehicle at a Post Office Branch that deals with vehicle tax without the V5C registration certificate" they should be able to do it providing the member of staff at the PO is sufficiently trained.1

Thank you all. I think I dodged a bullet here. Next time I will definitely ask about the V5 before driving miles for a test drive.0
