Looking to buy a, (first), laptop.
Ideas as to what would be best for me,not sure what needed or manufacturer.
Need a camera for WhatsApp etc. USB, RAM? Storage. Screen size. OS etc.
Not wanting to pay a lot of money, (this is a money saving site
).

Don't need gaming, just general surfing and word processing, (letters etc).

What is your exact budget?.....Are you open to Chromebooks or tablets?
Cheap doesn't always relate to money saving, particularly tech.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I don't actually have a budget in mind, just don't want to spend a lot.Not sure what chrome books are, (not looked into them), but have had a Lenovo tablet for about 3 years, but that is now getting slow, so thought that I might go for a laptop, use a desktop in the main at home. One thing about the tablet is that it does not have a USB port so I cannot play stuff back.Just had a quick look re Chromebooks, some info says they are slow and use old CPU's and processors:-"Are Chromebooks being discontinued?Google has announced it is to discontinue support for Chrome web apps starting this year. ... Google Chrome OS, the operating system used on Chromebooks, is not affected. Google say web apps will 'remain supported and maintained on Chrome OS for the foreseeable future. '27 Jul 2019""Why the Chromebook is bad?Specifically, the disadvantages of Chromebooks are: Weak processing power. Most of them are running extremely low-power and old CPUs, such as Intel Celeron, Pentium, or Core m3. Of course, running Chrome OS doesn't require much processing power in the first place, so it might not feel as slow as you'd expect."

Without a budget, you might as well ask "How long is a piece of string?"
DELL Outlet offers this for just less than £315 delivered.

If you want to spend less, you can look at Refurb/second user with warranty.0

The most important thing, make sure the disk is an SSD (Solid State Disk). 256GB seems to be the default size of SSD on a budget laptop. For general word processing an Intel Core i3 processor is more than adequate. You'd have to ask someone else how AMD processors compare.4GB RAM is OK, but 8GB is preferable. For me a 15.6 inch screen is not too big and not too small, but that may not suit you.My preferred manufacturer is Dell. All my Dell laptops have taken a lot of punishment. I'm sure other people will tell you different.0 -
