Gladstone Brookes claiming against a claim I put in prior to engaging them

I asked Gladstone to investigate my PPI and they came back with several which have paid out and they've had their cut.  They messaged me to say that Barclaycard had replied to say there was a previous claim and therefore nothing for them to investigate. I have a copy of the letter Barclays sent to them on my file. I had put this claim in to Barclaycard several years previously and they had decided to revisit it.  Now Gladstone are trying to claim their cut of the Barclaycard payout even though I claimed it myself prior to engaging them.  Surely this isn't their entitlement?

It isn’t. Send them a copy of the letter as part of a complaint and tell them to withdraw their bill for that account.

if you don’t mind my asking, why did you engage a claims management company when you’ve made a complaint yourself previously?

  • Barclaycard was the only one I had current, I'd applied back when it all kicked off about 4yrs ago and initially they wrote saying there was no case.  Since then they've paid out on my Barclaycard and now on one they underwrote.
Thanks for the advice, I will refer BG back to the letter which they sent me - clowns.
The rest was so old I didn't have any paperwork so figured it was worth paying them a % to get something back and it was close to the deadline.

They didn’t do anything for that percentage so make sure you don’t give them a penny more
