Hi,
I'm looking for a bit of advice. I have taken voluntary redundancy as the company I work for due to covid19 required to reduce the staff numbers, I will be on furlough until July 3rd. I Worked for the company for 11 years so and VER was 2.5 weeks wages for each year I was employed so I will have just over £10,000. The main reason I took it was as I have always wanted to pursue a career in midwifery, im currently waiting to find out if I have been successful onto the swap to nursing course. I am 33 and a single parent with 2 kids and after paying off bits of debt, car insurance/Road tax upfront, I will have around £7000 and I wanted to use this to support me through my college course(1 year until I would start uni) so I dont want to use it all straight away. My course won't start until September so my question is can I claim any benefits because I took voluntary redundancy? Will my savings mean I wouldn't be entitled to any help? My big fear is that this is used over the next few months for paying bills etc and I will end up unable to afford bills during my college course on a bursey. Im sorry its a long post just wanted to give as much detail as I could. Thank you in advance x
