O/S Daily Monday 15 June 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast start to the day here, but not cold.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast lamb, roasties, HG new potatoes, cauli in cheese sauce, carrots, broc, broad beans, yorkshires and gravy - lamb was lovely, I cooked it in a roasting bag - as new oven is all nice and shiny so trying to limit the mess made inside. Tonight we'll be having chicken wrapped in bacon and stuffed with cream cheese, grated cheese and wholegrain mustard, potatoes and veg.
We didn't do much yesterday just chilled at home.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A bit of a dull start here but no rain due till this evening and then it's sounding grim for the next few days. It will be a test for my newly cleaned out gutters!
Another day of same old, same old. I won't be going into town to visit the newly opened shops. We have lost more casualties I hear too. Since we lost M & S and, more recently, Beales, it's getting more and more like a ghost town. I'm told Dorthy P won't be re=opening here, with probably more shops following suit. DIL is all geared up for opening her little jewellery and gift shop but she isn't expecting hordes of people queuing to get in. She only opened it in December and she hasn't a lot of hope for its future after this.
It'll be interesting to see if our little hourly bus is any busier with the new distancing and face masks ruling. It's only a little bus and, at most, will probably only be able to seat about four now! Prior to today it's been running up and down all but empty most of the time. Maybe we will be given a bigger bus - but I doubt it!
Not much in the way of cooking to do today. Left over gammon, veg and gravy to warm up for my dinner tonight and the usual salad wrap or bagel for lunch, with a bowl of hm soup. I will need to do a soup re-stock soon as freezer stocks are diminishing again.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care all and stay safe xx.

Morning all and thank you for starting the thread.
Today will be more of the same really. Yesterday I did a bit of tidying and weeding outside, wanted to cut the grass but even though it warmed up through the day, there were still drops of water on the grass. The mower is electric so I didn't risk it. May be able to do it today.
I swept the kitchen floor but it needs a wash, people keep walking about on it, most inconsiderate.
I made lasagne for dinner, plus meatballs and wedges for DS, lasagne was lovely but I couldn't finish mine, this morning I have discovered that magpies looooove lasagne. They like pizza crust too, I already knew that.
The shops are open but I don't think I will be shopping yet.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Good morning, and thanks NMLC.It's a misty grey start here, but not cold. Like TA I'm not going to the newly opened shops today, I'll give them a while to settle down. There's nothing I need anyway.RR I was shocked to read about your DD's ex and his antics with their house, it's terrible, how awful - hope it gets sorted out.I'm tiired after a really bad night, but strong coffee will get me through the day.Hope everyone has a good day anyway, take care folks.15

Morning all
Sunny here and dog has been walked today as hopefully the hoards are off to the shops i am going to the tip then on to the charity shop to drop off a few boxes full of bits and last but not least to the timber yard to order some fence panels they used to take cash on delivery but not any more and no cards over the phone so a busy one for me .
Ruby I cannot believe the front of the ex good for DD she sounds like she has a good head on her shoulders
Right onwards and upwards have a good day whatever you are up to xSlava Ukraini14 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, I wouldn't call making a full roast dinner a chilled day! Glad your new oven is working well.
TA - we now have double decker buses running here but still mostly empty, the buses run out here from Glasgow but it takes over 2 hours so would be my very last option!
Yesterday turned out to be very hot and sunny after a muggy start but this morning it's overcast again, it could go either way but I'll put washing out anyway.
Gers very kindly gave me a pretty cotton quilt cover that I have been making into pj bottoms, they have come up quite well, I'll see if I can make myself a pair but will have to use an old pair as a pattern as mine only goes up to age 8 and I certainly won't fit into them!
I must go and weed at the allotment today and check how the courgettes are growing, there were 3 little ones there last week but they grow so quickly they could be marrows by now.
Hope you all have a happy Monday, take care. XX12 -
Morning all
I'm with you TA there will be no shopping for me today. They just showed Primark on the news and the queues were already building at 7! Now I am somewhat partial to a Primark visit I confess usually for PJs and then leaving sometime later with 3 large bags all for 50 quid...but not with huge queues and new rules on touching clothes.
Usual Monday ahead washing, kitchen, bins. Food will be leftovers including some garlic butter chicken I made yesterday which was somewhat over the top on the garlic so apologies if its a bit stinky on here this morning
Hope all is well with Rubes and family such a vile creature that ex is
Enjoy your day all13 -
Good morning folks. It's dull and muggy outside, such a change from the brilliant sunshine yesterday. My excitement yesterday was cleaning my watch bracelet! I noticed some gunk in the clasp bit where the top folds over and clips. I enjoyed a little while getting into the small corners with a cotton bud dipped in surgical spirit and then gave it all scrub with a nail brush!
It needs two links taken out as it dangles at my wrist or is pushed up my arm.
Today the excitement will be provided by the window cleaner coming, as long as the rain stays away. Oh how our worlds have shrunk. The scenes outside shops in England are a worrying sight. I suppose it's down to the thrill of shopping.CAMELOT - it would be good if you got some pjs out of that duvet cover! Send photos.Hugs all round - happy Monday to all.12 -
Morning,Glad your oven worked well Nmlc.M.E. lovely to hear of your little 'holiday'. Simple pleasures eh.DH cooked our tea on the bbq, and the kebabs etc from the restaurant pack were very nice yesterday , we had it quite early to avoid a possible rain shower. We were very full so gave the sticky toffee pud a miss, I need to check the date on it in case I have to freeze it.We had a lovely surprise yesterday, we nipped over to DS house for DH to measure the bathroom as the tiler is going tomorrow. When we got back DS1 said we'd just missed C, the client DH did a big job for last year but he'd left a beautiful hanging basket for us. It had fuschias ,begonias and lobelia. He'd even bought a bracket too,so they hung that up at the front. Wasn't that a lovely gesture and so unexpectedDH is taking my laptop in to the computer shop this morning - hope it can be fixed after the mishap with the drink spillage. I've ordered a shredder, coming today so I'm going to round up the tonnes of old paperwork in readinessHope you all have a good day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all
Nice bright day here again, yesterday was lovely we cycled to a huge park (18 miles round trip) and dd drove and met us there with the dogs we had a picnic and gave the dogs a run, although while we were there a group of three families came along with Macdonadls bags and climbed / lifted the kids over the fence into the play park and then sat and ate while the kids playedthere is a reason that gate was padlocked !! to stop this blooming virus, some people have no sense.
Hopefully dd will get somewhere today with the house fiasco she is waiting for a few calls so I hope that starts to move forward.
We need to get a few bits from the butcher today I fancy minty lamb chops on the bbq tonight, OH was supposed to be back at work today but they phoned last night and put him off for a while longer which he is pleased about so another few days respite !
Someone said yesterday about the ex's ex taking that child into the house, she took him in when they had just split up and dd's ex was doing very strong drugs and sleeping tablets and the little boy could not wake him, he is only 6 so very young, all because she wanted a night out !! and this other woman who has moved in with her child into a house with three blokes she doesnt really know and with all that noise and shouting and drugs, it beggars belief, dd and her ex paid 300k for that house in a nice area which is now being bought down by the scum in there now !
Right better get on have good days all xx10 -
Hello all. Many thanks to taff and TA for sending me good wishes.I'm still around, but not out of the woods yet and I still have no idea as to what I have, but at least I have stopped feeling so sick. In addition I am trying to help Dad who is also feeling unwell (something not related) although everything I have suggested so far has been met with resistance. I have been reading along but not felt up to posting and I may be only able to post intermittently for a while.Take care all. Hugs to all especially the poorly people and troubled ones.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12
