Also, I just remembered, That I lived in Grove Park once, and I would avoid that and anywhere near Chinbrook or Downham way.Out of all the places that I lived around South East London, Greenwich and Lewisham had the better vibes.Corduroy pillows are making headlines! What attracts you to Lewisham, Deptford and Woolwich please?0 -

There will be a trend for people to move away from London as work from home becomes mainstream. So right now you would buy at the peak of the market. London prices won't rise fast any more - in fact likely to fall instead. Get a 2-bed house at least with some garden - if that means going bit away from London.
Off course, it depends on how much you need to commute to central London daily and where your work can be done remotely.
I did not think about old properties as I imagine that repairs in UK will be expensive. Although I have no idea what is more beneficial in terms of money: to buy new property or to buy old one plus repairs?
Also I am not sure if I want all these repairs as I am not planning to do it my home forever. Even opposite as soon as I have an opportunity to go for work to another country I would jump at the opportunity.
Here comes another question: can I rent out property bought on HTB scheme?
I spoke to one developer: they allow lodgers but expect that you inform them. They do not allow tenants, only in exceptional circumstances and usually it would be permitted for 6 or 12 months (after you provide a confirmation of your exceptional circumstances). Not sure if rules are similar across all developers or they vary.1 -

What attracts you to Lewisham, Deptford and Woolwich please?Hi Miranda, I think what attracts me to Lewisham is mainly good memories from the couple of times I lived there and also being so far away from there for almost the last 25 yrs, down in Maidstone and only stayed here because I got a job after yrs and yrs out of work due to accidents. Being born and brought up around East London and South East London for my first 35 yrs, I miss it so much.I like how Deptford makes me feel plus Manzes Pie & mash, and the market. As for Woolwich, not too keen as it seems not a lot of a London feel to it, a bit like Croydon.Greenwich has a really good buzz to it and I loved living by the Thames, but very expensive. I only lived there in the 70's with my mum and dad in a council flat in Thames st, I was only 10 - 13 at the time but still loved it.Lewisham tops it for me with the good transport hub.Corduroy pillows are making headlines!
