Change of garage door.

Hi
First time post, I have a knackered garage door, basically I want to replace it with a normal door, so frame it up, shiplap the front with a door to one side, do I need permission for this? Or building regs? It will still be a garage, just for storage and not parking 🤣

I am sure you don't need any permission. And no regulations if you don't convert it to a living space.

Thanks, it'll still be a garage just with a single door.0

You will not require BR approval and the only instance you may require PP would be if the property was listed.1

It makes the garage much more accessible.

I'm wanting to do similar to my garage and my local council informed me that I need building regs approval. My plan was to remove the garage door and replace with a normal door so I could insulate it a bit better. Building regs would mean I'd need to have proper foundations installed for the breeze block wall.

To replace a garage door with a window will as you say require BR approval. It may also need Planning approval if you’re going down the garage conversion route and do not have PD rights intact.
