Travel Insurance or Credit Card

Booked for 14 days in Algarve June 30th -July 14th
Flights - easyJet  been informed today they are cancelled so will get full refund
Car Hire - cancelled full refund 
so far so good

Hotel week 2 - booked via stayforlong (Spanish company) paid in full in January non refundable i may or may not be offered a credit voucher but no guarantee they will be in business next year
Portugal is open for tourists but we cant get there my Nationwide travel insurance has £50 excess for cancellation wife's travel2go £100 can i go via credit card first as i understand once a hotel/company has offered a voucher you can't claim on insurance or will credit card company insist i go via insurance first.

    Hotel week 2.  You may be able to claim off travel insurance as you are unable to travel to do FCO advice.  The credit card company is unlikely to have any liability as the services i.e. the hotel is available, you are just unable to make use of the service.
