0% interest credit card

Hello,
I have never had a credit card before, so I'm uneasy about applying for one and messing up my credit rating.  I part own a home and currently pay the mortgage and all the bills for it.  I'm employed full time and my income thankfully has not been affected by Coronavirus.  I would now like to get a 0% interest credit card to pay off £3.5K mortgage penalty for early repayment.  Is this even possible?  I am planning to remortgage as I am buying out my ex-partner, and our current lender will not lend me enough, so I need borrow from a different mortgage lender and pay the penalty with the current lender.  Does anyone have any advice on the best way to go about all of this?  Especially advice for first time credit card applications?  TIA

To pay off a non-credit card debt, you'd need a money transfer card but the prospects of getting one of these with a sufficient limit (or at all) when not having had a card before are probably slim, but try the eligibility checker linked from that page....

Edit: the penalty charge isn't really a debt as such I suppose, but it wouldn't be treated as a purchase if put on a normal card, so you'd end up paying interest if you went down that route.

I know this is going off topic but if there is a penalty for early redemption of your mortgage - make sure this is shared 50-50 or the whole amount taken off the equity before you split the money. Good luck.
