E: 17/06 Win a luxury break for two in the Pennines
Sunday Times Where Was I? competition
The prize:
The winner and a guest will stay for three nights, B&B, at the Lord Crewe Arms in Blanchland, Northumberland. The hotel occupies what was once the abbot’s lodge and guesthouse in a medieval priory — and is now a property that mixes modern luxury with a heady sense of history, amid wild and magnificent Pennine scenery. The pub sits in a barrel-vaulted chamber, the restaurant is the former bishop’s dining room, and in the parish church next door you can see the soaring remnants of the priory’s church.
There is much to see near by, too, including Hadrian’s Wall, Durham Cathedral, the open-air museum at Beamish and the thundering High Force waterfall.
A member of the Calcot Collection, the hotel is taking bookings from July 29.
The prize includes a dinner for two, excluding wine, at the Bishop’s Dining Room restaurant, overseen by the accomplished head chef, Emma Broom. It must be taken before April 30, 2021, subject to availability and excluding public holidays, December 21 to January 3, and April 2 to 5.
